President and CEO of the Credit Union National Association

Image of Jim Nussle, President and CEO of the Credit Union National AssociationCUNA is the most influential national financial services trade association advocating on behalf of all of American credit unions, and the largest trade association championing the credit union movement. These credit unions serve 115 million American members and 300,000 employees, handling more than $1.5 trillion in assets.

Jim believes credit unions are American’s best financial partner, possessing what he calls special “cooperative superpowers” that help make dreams come true for their members. By prioritizing their members’ financial health, credit unions meet the many diverse needs of individuals, families and communities across the country.

With an exciting, focused and bold strategic plan, Jim is leading the CUNA team and the credit union movement with what he refers to as “360-degree advocacy offense”. This strategy has delivered the first enacted regulatory relief law in a generation; expanded the powers to serve more members with modern services; and protected and defended credit unions from tax battles at the national and state level.

Jim is also leading the CUNA team and the credit union movement in a first-of-its-kind sustained national consumer awareness initiative. The initiative plans on deploying millions over the next 3 years to entice new consumers to “Open their Eyes” to a credit union.

Jim is also leading the CUNA team to take the initiative in discovering and launching best in class solutions for the vexing issues credit unions face in the market. These solutions help members with issues like recruiting talent, access to professional development and peer networking, addressing complex and costly compliance responsibilities, and data security and technology innovation.

Jim, the entire CUNA team, the state leagues and associations, our system partners and all our credit union supporters like you, are all dedicated to working cooperatively together to ensure that credit unions will continue to be able to grow and fulfill the mission of being American’s best financial partner.
